Steve Baumann, Compass President, and CEO has been able to grow and develop Compass Commercial Brokers into one of the leaders in commercial real estate. Steve’s clients have benefited from his unique ability to market properties that had previously been static, which results in lower vacancy levels and higher property sale prices for his clients.
Steve is not only our team leader, he also owns and develops properties in Maine. Steve is an active member of many local organizations in the Falmouth area and has served on the Old Port Task Force.

Meet Steve
Steve founded Compass Commercial Brokers LLC in 2010, bringing more than 27 years of experience in the Greater Portland commercial real estate market. Prior to launching Compass, he spent a successful decade with CBRE/The Boulos Company and has since been involved in just over 1 Billion in commercial sale and lease transactions throughout his career.
Steve specializes in the sale and leasing of retail, office, warehouse, and investment properties, with specific expertise in helping clients reposition assets to remain competitive in an evolving marketplace. His strategic approach to re-imaging underperforming properties has consistently delivered reduced vacancy rates and strong returns for his clients.
As President and CEO of Compass Commercial Brokers, Steve works closely with Jack Baumann and Jennifer Davies to guide the firm’s growth as a forward-thinking brokerage dedicated to delivering results-driven solutions for its clients. His innovative marketing perspective and hands-on leadership have made him a trusted advisor to commercial property owners throughout the Greater Portland region.
In addition to brokerage, Steve owns, manages, and develops commercial real estate through his development company. He is actively involved in the local community, serving on the Woodlands Homeowners Association board and having previously been appointed to the Old Port Task Force.
Meet Jennifer
Jennifer joined Compass Commercial Brokers in 2013, focusing on tenant representation and operations. In 2016, Jennifer became Vice President of Compass Commercial. Jennifer’s background in Interior Design is the perfect complement to her client approach. She thoroughly enjoys working with tenants and buyers to find the perfect location for their business or finding an investment property to best suit their needs and goals for long term success and growth.
Jennifer lives in Portland with her husband, four children, and two rescue dogs

Meet Alan
Alan has over 34 years of real estate experience, spending 23 of them as the owner/broker of a mid-size residential/investment firm in southern Maine. Alan has served in various capacities on numerous real estate boards in the state of Maine, including Past President of the Multiple Listing Service, Maine Real Estate Resource Center, and the Greater Portland Board of Realtors (GPBR). He currently is chair of the Grievance Committee for the GPBR, a former member of the Scarborough Board of Assessment Review and sits on the Realtor’s Processional Standards Committee for State of Maine
As a Designated Broker at Compass, Alan brings his experience and expertise to this progressive and forward-thinking real estate company. Alan is a native of Portland and active in the community. He resides in Scarborough.
Meet Jack
Jack Baumann joined Compass Commercial Brokers in July 2022 and is a key contributor to the team as a Sales and Leasing Agent. He graduated from the University of Maine in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in business. Prior to joining Compass, Jack gained professional experience working at L.L.Bean and The Orvis Company, which has equipped him for success in his current role.
In addition to his work in commercial real estate, Jack is a published columnist for Up Portland, where he writes a monthly column focused on fly fishing. His interest in commercial real estate developed early, inspired by observing his father’s and grandfather’s involvement in various real estate ventures.
Jack is enthusiastic about continuing to grow his career in commercial real estate and contributing to the ongoing success of Compass Commercial Brokers.

Heather Baumann joined Compass Commercial Brokers in September 2024, bringing her expertise to both the residential investment portfolio and the management of operations across the company’s development entities. With nearly 30 years of residency in Falmouth, she possesses a deep understanding of the community and its evolving landscape. Heather is enthusiastic about the future of Falmouth and is dedicated to contributing to its growth and development, ensuring that both the company and the community flourish together.

Delaney became part of Compass Commercial Brokers in 2025, supporting office operations while overseeing marketing and communications initiatives. Her background in marketing has enabled her to lead content creation and develop multi-channel strategies. Passionate about relationship building, Delaney thrives in a collaborative team environment, supporting company objectives and enhancing Compass’s brand across both digital and traditional platforms. She looks forward to continuing to support the growth and development of the local community.
Meet Jessie
Jessie is a dedicated bookkeeper with Compass Commercial Brokers, bringing more than 3½ years of experience in financial management and reporting. Since joining Compass Commercial nine months ago, she has played a vital role in supporting the firm’s operational excellence by ensuring accurate, organized bookkeeping that helps inform strategic decisions and maintain financial clarity for the team.
Currently pursuing her Enrolled Agent (EA) certification, Jessie is expanding her expertise in tax and compliance to further enhance the financial services she provides. Her professional approach emphasizes precision, reliability, and proactive communication—values that reflect Compass Commercial’s commitment to transparency, trust, and client-first service.
Outside the office, Jessie enjoys staying active and balanced, spending her weekends exercising and exploring the outdoors with her black lab. She brings the same consistency and discipline from her personal life into her work, contributing to the firm’s mission of delivering outstanding service and support behind the scenes.
