Steve Baumann, Compass President, and CEO has been able to grow and develop Compass Commercial Brokers into one of the leaders in commercial real estate. Steve’s clients have benefited from his unique ability to market properties that had previously been static, which results in lower vacancy levels and higher property sale prices for his clients.
Steve is not only our team leader, he also owns and develops properties in Maine. Steve is an active member of many local organizations in the Falmouth area and has served on the Old Port Task Force.

Meet Steve
Steve launched Compass Commercial Brokers LLC in 2010, building on 25 years of experience in the Greater Portland commercial real estate market and a successful 10-year career with CBRE/The Boulos Company. He has been involved in more than $590 million in sale/lease transactions in his career. Steve is highly experienced in the sale and leasing of retail, office, warehouse and investment real estate, and is uniquely proficient in assisting clients in re-positioning their holdings to compete with new inventory in a challenging marketplace.
As President and CEO of Compass, he works with Jennifer Davies to grow and develop Compass Commercial as a progressive brokerage company dedicated and committed to their clients’ real estate needs. Steve’s clients have benefited from his unique ability to market commercial real estate with successful returns from re-imaging static properties, which results in lower vacancy levels and successful sale returns for his clients. With Steve’s unique approach, he has become a tremendous asset to many commercial property owners in greater Portland and has carried this approach through to Compass Commercial.
Steve also manages, owns and develops commercial real estate with his development company. He is active in many local organizations, serves on the board of the Woodland’s Homeowner’s association, and was appointed to the Old Port Task Force in 2007.
Steve resides in Falmouth with his wife and two children.
Meet Jennifer
Jennifer joined Compass Commercial Brokers in 2013, focusing on tenant representation and operations. In 2016, Jennifer became Vice President of Compass Commercial. Jennifer’s background in Interior Design is the perfect complement to her client approach. She thoroughly enjoys working with tenants and buyers to find the perfect location for their business or finding an investment property to best suit their needs and goals for long term success and growth.
Jennifer lives in Portland with her husband, four children, and two rescue dogs

Meet Alan
.Alan has over 34 years of real estate experience, spending 23 of them as the owner/broker of a mid-size residential/investment firm in southern Maine. Alan has served in various capacities on numerous real estate boards in the state of Maine, including Past President of the Multiple Listing Service, Maine Real Estate Resource Center, and the Greater Portland Board of Realtors (GPBR). He currently is chair of the Grievance Committee for the GPBR, a former member of the Scarborough Board of Assessment Review and sits on the Realtor’s Processional Standards Committee for State of Maine

Meet Jack
Jackson Baumann joined Compass Commercial Brokers in July of 2022, starting as an intern and is now a brokers assistant. He graduated from The University of Maine in 2023 with a bachelors degree in business. Prior to working at Compass, Jackson has worked for L.L.Bean and The Orvis Company. He is also a published columnist for Up Portland, writing a monthly column about fly fishing. Jackson first got a taste of commercial real estate while watching both his father and grandfather’s involvement in various ventures. This is when he started taking interest in a career in real estate. Jackson is excited to further his career in commercial real estate working at Compass Commercial Brokers.
